Discover Fly Five: Hit the ground running with an SEL curriculum

Date:  Tuesday, May 11, 2021
Presenter: Seth Fawks

Fly Five is an all-encompassing curriculum that will allow educators to seamlessly integrate SEL instruction in their classrooms. The backbone of the Fly Five curriculum is made up of five Design Principles: support teacher efficacy through professional development; provide formative data support and empower teacher decision-making; adapt to a wide variety of educational contexts, and represent diversity. These principles ensure that any educator implementing the Five Fly curriculum in their classroom has the knowledge, the resources, and the support to engage every student in thorough and developmentally appropriate and progressive SEL lessons. While it might seem difficult to develop a curriculum that can stand by these principles as well as retain ease of use and implementation for educators, exploring Five Fly’s Learning Management System digital platform will show that Fly Five not only accomplishes this but excels in doing so.

Seth Fawks - Presenter

Before coming to CRS, Seth Fawks worked as an Academic Behavioral Interventionist serving clients in the care of the Department of Children and Families. As an Academic Behavioral Interventionist, Seth connected with teachers, guidance counselors, social workers, and principals to support and strengthen his clients’ academia. Whether it was attending IEP meetings, implementing a summer school curriculum, or educating clients without school placement, Seth’s resolve was to give every child an equal opportunity to succeed academically. Seth believes that true academic success comes from teaching a child not only math, social studies, language arts, and science, but additionally cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control. Off the clock, Seth spends his time rock climbing with his father and brother, or enjoying time with his partner cooking meals.
