The C.A.R.E.S. Standards for a Course of Study were developed as the foundation for the Fly Five curriculum in response to the growing emphasis on SEL standards across the United States. The Standards are based on the five C.A.R.E.S. competencies (cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control), which align with CASEL’s SEL framework and were designed to meet the goals outlined in state standards for SEL instruction.
